Fred R. Haynes of Phoenix, our brother known for his wisdom as "Old Fred," died Aug. 17, 2006, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kan. He was 56. Fred had been home in Russell for several weeks, traveling to Canada with his mother, when he entered the hospital. The cause of death was a viral infection. more ...
Damon W. Miller, 30, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006. He was diabetic and had wrestled with increased problems the past few years, but none of us expected that it would take him from us so soon. Damon was the man behind our annual Homecoming golf tournament. No one was more committed to Phi Kappa Tau and the University of Kansas. more ...
Robert R. Vetter of Westwood Hills, Kan., died at home July 3, 2004. He was 73. He was an Eagle Scout from Shawnee Mission High School and graduated as an engineer from KU in 1951. Bob joined the Marine Corps after graduation, and earned his Professional Engineers Designation in 1962. He was an avid reader and car buff, and had a passion for his profession. Kent W. Simcoe of Roseville, Calif., died May 25, 2002, of complications due to spinal cancer. He was 64. He and his wife posted a courageous account of the final weeks of his life, in which Kent's unique and humorous outlook shines through. more ...
